Abstract:
The massive galaxies and their central supermassive black holes (SMBHs) co-evolution scenario proposes that a gas-rich major merger can trigger the central starburst and feeding the SMBH accretion, and then star formation has eventually been quenched by quasar feedback. In this evolutionary sequence, dust-obscured quasars may represent the critical transition phase between starburst and unobscured quasars. With WISE All-Sky Survey data, a population of luminous dust-obscured quasars has been recently selected. We utilized the panchromatic emission of these hidden monsters to explore their physical properties, such as dust, gas, stars, morphology and environment etc. Our results are consistent with the prediction by the merger-driven evolutionary scenario.
