Abstract: Time-domain transient surveys have led to the discovery of dozens of stellar tidal disruption events (TDEs) by massive black hole in the centers of galaxies. Earlier theoretical works focused mainly on the TDEs in otherwise quiescent galaxies. TDE studies are developing and recent observations suggest more complex picture than expected. In this talk, I try to review the progress in the study of TDEs, particularly those associated with active galaxies, and more interestingly the stellar disruption by supermassive black hole binaries. In addition, the results from our on-going X-ray and radio follow-up observations of TDE candidates will be shown. I will end with the summary of challenges in distinguishing various types of nuclear transients in future studies.
