Title: Circum-galactic Medium Around Local Spiral Galaxies --- A New Window to Understand Galaxy Evolution
Location: room 1714
Time: Wednesday, 10:30 am, Nov. 12
Speaker: 李江涛 (密西根大学)
Abstract: The multi-phase circum-galactic medium (CGM) plays a key role in galaxy evolution as a reservoir where galaxies acquire baryons to continue their SF and deposit chemically enriched materials and mechanical feedback. I will introduce our recent work and ongoing projects studying the X-ray emitting hot galactic coronae around local disk galaxies, as well as some other multi-wavelength projects. I will also discuss how these observations could improve our understanding of the total baryon budget, metal enrichment, and dynamics of the CGM.
