SHAO Astrophysics Colloquium
Title: The Origin of Spirals in Galaxies
Speaker: Jerry Sellwood (University of Arizona at Tucson)
Time: Apr. 11 , 2 pm (Wednesday)
Location: Lecture hall, 3rd floor
Abstract: Despite the fact that the beautiful spirals in galaxies have been seen for over 160 years, we do not yet have the complete answer to what causes them. I will show how a combination of theory and simulations is leading me to an answer, and will also provide some observational evidence that I am on the right track.
